Uzochukwu Okafor obtained a B.Sc (Hons) Degree in Surveying, Geodesy
and Photogrammetry from the University of Nigeria in 1981.
He obtained a MSc in Surveying from University of Lagos in 1984.
In 1999 he obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Geographical Information
Systems from University of Pretoria.
Mr Okafor is the Deputy Surveyor-General and head - Division of Mapping
and GIS at the Ministry of Lands, Resettlement and Rehabilitation, Namibia.
He pioneered the introduction of digital mapping at the Directorate of
Survey and Mapping (DSM).
His main tasks includes supervision/implementation support; programme
planning, management and policy formulation, monitoring and evaluation
of projects.
Before joining the DSM he was a lecturer at the University of Nigeria,
Enugu Campus from 1985 to 1981 and the University of Zimbabwe from 1991
to 1993.
In both institutions he lectured at the Departments responsible for teaching
surveying and mapping.
