VANDERBURG Operator
Semi-linear VANDERBURG's detector, at the origin created to extract lines from average resolution images, is limited to the processing of lineaments of one pixel broad. It is thus unable to process lineaments whose width varies, in particular during changes of directions. The answers of 14 masks, representing various configurations and orientations, are analyzed. It is about a combination of the longitudinal average along a lineament of the mask, with the averages of the pixels on both sides of the lineament. The best answer is kept. In the majority of the cases, the result is strongly noisy (see [Roux, 1992]).
