Dr D. Rokos, I. Galanos

  • The remote sensed data used in the research, consisted  of a Landsat TM scene, captured on the 19th of July 1989,  recorded by Fucino station.
  • The scene (path /row 181/34), is centered at  370 48' latitude / 260 14' longitude.
  • Sun elevation and azimuth on the acquisition date were recorded as 580 86' and 1130 76', respectively.
  • Naxos island is contained within a sub-scene 840x1095 (columns)x(rows).
  • The scene comprises six 30m ground-resolution spectral bands and one 120m ground resolution thermal infrared band as shown in table below.

  • TM data, were first geocoded and radiometrically corrected.
  • All images shown here  have been processed using  linear contrast stretching technique. This simple method of contrast stretching along with radiometric correction is in most cases sufficient to produce  images of high quality, the removal of haze and increased contrast sharpens the high-spatial frequency features in the images.
