- The statistical tests that were applied on remote sensed
lineaments and groundwater data of the study area, showed that there is a
significant relationship between the yield of a spring and its location relative to the
number of different orientation classes and the relative entropy of the lineaments within
a 1.5Km radius. Also the spring's distance of separation from the nearest remote
sensed lineament appears to be a significant factor.
- The areas that are suggested to be favourable for groundwater
exploration according to this research, cover less than 60% of the total area of the
island.
- As there is an indication that groundwater flow is along preferred
pathways, further research could reveal the preferred orientations, limiting down the
above proportion even more.
- Image interpretation although it should not be considered as an end in
itself, it can be a valuable tool that improves the speed, accuracy and economy of a
groundwater study.
